Romeo and Juliet the final scene

Romeo And Juliet
Let me give you a little bit of history:
Paris had Juliet in hand of marriage but Juliet had fallen in love with Romeo. Who is a Capulet. The Capulet's and Montague's have a feud. so that meant Julie and Romeo could not be married. you may wonder how did this tragic love story begin. Romeo went to a ball that he wasn't supposed to go to because he was a Montague. But he went anyways and saw Juliet there and fell in love with her. They both kissed and demanded in marriage, but they knew that would never happen. Romeo had been banished and Juliet has drank poison that has made her fallen into deep sleep, that makes her look dead. All leading but to people thinking Juliet is dead but this was all Juliet's plan , to get Romeo to marry her.
The story takes place in Verona :Paris and his servant go to see Juliet's tomb and he brought her flowers and sweet water. Paris is warned by his servant that someone is approaching the tomb. So Paris goes and hides and Romeo walks in with his servant and his servant is told to leave because Romeo has asked him to request a letter to his father. Romeo gives his servant some money to leave because he doesn't want him to see what he is about to do. Romeo wants to go in the tomb with Juliet but Paris comes out and stop Romeo.
Paris argues with Romeo because he is a Montague and the fight becomes worse and Romeo and Paris fight. Romeo wins the battle and Paris is dead. In Paris last breath he asks Romeo so he can lay by Juliet and Romeo does because he killed him and had felt bad.
Romeo admires Juliet and wants to be with her so drinks the poison. Juliet, Paris and Romeo all dead. All of sudden Juliet awakens and friar Laurence has just walked in and saw the blood and dead bodies. Friar Laurence tells Juliet to leave but she doesn’t because she loves Romeo and wants to stay with him. She then takes the sword and kills herself because there wasn't enough poison to kill her.

Capulet, servants , Prince and Lady Capulet enter to the ruckus. They all observe the dead bodies and the Prince tries to calm peace by taking things into his hands. He found out that Friar Laurence was behind all this but doesn't hurt him because he wasn't guilty of anything bad. He just wanted Juliet and Romeo to happy. The two families learn from this death that they have to end their fight and live at peace. They both lost something that is irreplaceable.

Contemporary Relevance

Teen Issue
The main issue that was explored in this book " The End Of The World As We Know It " by Lesley Choyce", was depression and rejection. Sometimes we all play a role in this, we may hurt someone or reject someone that may affect someone in the long run. As teenagers we don’t think about depression, we leave that for the adults, but that's not always the case, there are many people who do harmful things to themselves because of it.
Family's play a big role in depression, they can break you or lift you, but in this crazy world you just never know what's next.  In this book Christine was rejected by her parents for their selfish desires. Carson was depressed and hated the world for no apparent reason.  No one took care of Christine she grew up by herself , naive to what love meant. Many of us look through people like that, we may not know what happens behind closed doors.  Trusting someone may be the hardest thing to do, Carson and Christine trusted each other, they both felt safe with each other's company.
Effects of depression, in this book, the effects of depression on Christine was brutal because she had cut herself. It makes me sad to think that she thought that her parents leaving her were somehow her fault. But I realized teenagers seem to do that, you blame yourself because you can't seem to accept your loved ones mistakes. Carson is resentful, he is just always moody and always scares people away. Depression affects the people around you too, for example, Carson's parents love him but they can't seem to understand his behaviour so they sent to him a school filled with kids who are dealing with similar things. In this world, many people suicide because of depression there is help but everyone is good at hiding things so it's hard to tell who is going through what. So that's why it is important to always show love towards those who resent because behind the hatred there is pain. Just like Carson, he looks like he is always angry and Christine looks like she doesn’t want to be bothered, but that's just a cover, to hide their hurt inside.
Causes of depression are a lot of things, and though Carson's never was specified I think he was overwhelmed with everything he had. His parents were rich and his brother always seemed to do better than him. I think that may have cause Carson to give up on things; jealousy. Christine was depressed because she always got rejected as she grew up, there was always arguing between, her father and mother. Sometimes to fix everything is LOVE, and that's how Carson and Christine helped each other out. They both cared and loved for one another and brought this satisfaction that they never had.
You can get help from kids help phone 1-800-668-6868.  You can ask them anything, and you can open up to them. They will be there for you, they will a listening ear when others have turned theirs away.

Questioning & Critical thinking

Discussion Questions
1)If you were in Christine's situation, would you have reunited with your mother after all the times she has left you?
2)Why do you think the author didn't leave the book at Christine and Carson living in the woods but left it of at Carson and Christine going on different paths?
3)If Carson didn't meet Christine do you think that she still will be hurting herself? yes or no (explain)
4)It never explained in the book why Carson hated the world but what do you think may have caused him to be resentful? for example:(Depression, his brother, who in his eyes were perfect)
5)Why do you think the author would make a twist and shut down the academy for a while and then reopen?

6) If you were Carson would you have trusted Christine to take you out in the woods ? Yes or No, (explain)

7) Do you think Carson's parents dealt with Carson depression well, by sending him to an academy, with people who are dealing with problems of their own?

8) Why do you think Christine rejected Carson's many attempts to help her?

Character Analysis

Christine:
My mother left me for her boyfriend, and my dad left me for someone he met online, they both are so selfish, how could they leave their daughter out here all alone? I rarely see my mom, she says she will be back but it's been months and I've never seen her. Life is pretty hard for me , I have to be out on the road begging.
One day I went to the nearby book store that's where I met Carson, he was sitting there , quietly I began to kick him for fun, then he started to kick me, it went on for a while and then I grabbed him by his hand and took him to my trailer. There was something about him, I showed him around my messed up neighbourhood. I know for a fact he found me creepy but he didn't run away, I still don't know why he came with me. As time went by I got to know him better and I began to like him.
I didn't know what to do with my life, I mean I didn't go to school, I wore dirty clothes and I had no money.  I needed someone to listen, all this hurt in me is building up and I needed to let it out. I talked to Carson about my problems, but I found his world different from mine, he was rich and had a loving family. I was the complete opposite, but he still lend his ear and listened to what I had to say. I know he wonders what the scars on my hands are, but I never bothered to tell him and he never asked.
I like sliding down the mud, jumping in the water and staring at the sky, I like to be free from this world. The reason I hate this world at times is because I feel rejected. No one has cared for me not even my parents so it's hard from me to except people, even Carson.
My world has never been perfect until Carson became a part of it, he brought happiness with him into it. I don’t want to lose him but as times get tougher our different paths will separate us. I can't believe that I made it 17 years living most of it on my own. All I needed was love is that too much to ask?
I thought running away would be an option because my trailer got taken away , but I felt bad for making Carson run away with me, he has a family. I insisted he called his parents , I honestly don't why I did that, but I'm guessing love had something to do with it. I learned to move on with life, Carson went back home and I found a job and reunited with my mom, though my mom hasn't changed I'm better off on my on, I still care about Carson even though things won't go back to the way they were. The love Carson and I had for each other made me look at the world in a less bitter way.

Quote:
1) "I was thinking tonight before I asleep that I might spare you a lot of grief if I just left. Disappeared."

This describes Christine because she always blames herself and thinks that if she wasn't in the way everything else will be better.
 2) "I am going for the steak, okay?"

That really describes Christine because she is so straight forward at times, and here when she said that at the restaurant she didn't care that Carson's mom was a vegetarian

 3) "You have it all, How can you screw it up, What is wrong with you"
Christine says that to Carson because she always has a thought that Carson has a perfect life, and she judged him before she got to know him. Christine judged Carson's parents because they were rich and found that, what she had thought was wrong.

Carson:
NOTHING EVER MAKES SENSE and I HATE THIS STUPID WORLD. I'm just a disappointment to my family, I mean I was fine before but I don't even know how I became so screwed up. I began to steal and resent the ones who loved me.  My parents were rich and my brother was perfect just like them.. I always wonder what ever happened to me.
I went to a school for messed up kids, well that's what I referred to it as. I didn't like it there much, but I preferred it there than home.  My school is filled with people that want to become a nuclear weapons inventor or drug dealer and then there is "me" I don’t really care about anything.
I lived in a dorm with a guy who one day wanted to create nuclear weapons. I liked to joke around, once I heard that there was a virus on a rock and if the rock was broken it would kill the people , I would say" TEOTWAWKI" it stood for " The End Of the World As We Know it" Me and my roommate used to always say things like that when we heard bizarre things.
I met a girl named Christine and at first I found her weird, she had scars on her hands but I never bothered to ask.  I began to love her and that's when I realised the world wasn't that bad. She would make me do the craziest things with her, and I enjoyed time with her, because she made me smile.  But something always bothered her, and I always wanted to help out and she would reject my offers.
I realised how messed up Christine's life was and when her trailer got taken away all I could do was take her into my school. But my school was shut down because a insane guy was hiding drugs. So we had nowhere to go but run away felt bad for my mom, not telling her where I was, if I told my mom she wouldn’t except the idea of me living in the woods. I followed her because I trusted her completely.
My parents excepted into their house but it became awkward and we weren’t talking as much. I felt bad for my parents because they always tried to help me and I always seemed to turn out as a failure. I never understood why I had so much hatred towards this world. But with Christine she made me smile.
As time went by she reunited with her mother and I with my family, I got a job at my academy which recently opened up, I still miss my Christine but the memories we share makes me smile.
Quote:
1) "Your saying she drove things into her arms to get people to pay attention to her?"
In this Carson gets defensive over Christine because Cromwell told him to becareful around her. But as usual Carson doesn't like it when anyone talked bad about Christine because he was protective of her

2)" Whenever anyone did to try to help, it only ended up making things worse, She was crying and i felt i was to blame."

Carson felt that it was fault for Christine losing her home. This shows how Carson can tend to blame himself for everything.

3)"I was really glad there was no one in the room just then. My eyes began to burn. And i started to cry."
Carson has a sensitive side to all his anger, he cries when he hears from his parents. But he tries to stay strong by thinking of how much he hates this world, but all that breaks when he hears his mothers voice.

Most Memorable Moment Journal

                                                                    Hear Me Out
We all need to lean on someone, we want someone to hear our problems, to give us comfort. I think the most memorable part was when Christine opened up about her life to Carson. She had no one in her life but Carson and when they both sat down together and talked, it made me feel happy that Christine is being honest. I chose this part because as I read this part and went on to several chapters ahead but I still would pause in the middle of the book and think about the scene. I wonder, how Carson felt and how Christine felt?
This scene takes place when Christine and Carson have just moved into their new home, it wasn't really something anyone would want to live in because it was an old shack that had no electricity or running water. Carson has been wondering what the marks on Christine's hands were but he never had the courage to ask her. Dr. Cromwell has warned him about Christine because Cromwell thought that she had cut herself purposely and might influence Carson to do it too.  It was cold out and Christine had wrapped herself beside Carson with a blanket that barely kept them warm.
She fell asleep but then she began to scream, and yell, Carson didn't understand what was happening. For all he knew, she was having a bad dream. He tried waking her up but she kept screaming "NO". He didn't know what to do but then she finally opened and began to cry. He looked at her eyes, and saw the pain and anger in it. Carson held her and she said" I'm afraid of being alone". Carson replied" You aren't I'm here with you".  As I was growing up I would come to an empty home, my mom and dad wouldn’t be around. Even if they were they would argue with each other. Her mother left with another guy and her dad left too. Her mother came once in a while but Christine felt like she had no friends. Since she was alone at night she felt nothing and when she cut herself she felt pain. She has stopped now but sometimes the memories come back.
Even though Carson is bitter and Christine is someone who is rejected , when they are together, love makes them closer and makes the world that they hate have a slim of happiness. Both of them falling in love turned the darkness in their life's to light.
I think that part of was very emotional for Christine, I can't imagine someone in their teen years blaming themselves for their parents mistakes. I feel so bad for Christine she blamed herself for all of it and cut herself. Depression probably caused her to do this, so when she met Carson she was able to tell him everything and show her the love that she never got. It breaks my heart that her parents weren't around and I know this is a fictional book but many people go through this in the world.
This scene has made me open my eyes to a bigger picture; Having a friend is important, and I think the people who are depressed in the world and have suicidal thoughts, maybe if they had a friend it would all change. I find this memorable because now Christine doesn't have this burden in her and Carson doesn't have to wonder what caused her scars. It leaves all questions answered. When you tell someone your pain your able to go on and forgive yourself and others, this scene has allowed me to appreciate what I have; my family and those who are there for me. I now know maybe the littlest thing someone has to say may change their life and even yours.

Poetry

My Father

Your always there for me
Even when i got mad at you
You still call me your little girl
You held me close so i wont fall
I was young then but now i have grown
you wonder who will treat you like gold
from my chlidhood to my teenage years
you kept me safe, i love you
My father

Gossip
I knew it was wrong
swept into its devious ways
now im part of it

Grandpa
Your laughter, your voice, your touch
I will always love you
Even though you have left
You left us with your memories
Your smile , that can never be replaced
Even though you don’t have teeth your smile is perfect to me
I couldn’t take to see you lying breathless on the bed
Where your eyes were cold and your hands were swollen
You mean so much to everyone here
A great man, husband, father, grandfather,  friend, and  brother
You knew how to make me smile and laugh
You were so proud of your children and grandchildren
Your presence is still with us , your now watching over us
Your gone now to a better place
I miss you Grandpa

Move On
people pass you by
Smiles fade away
All because of you,
Life was changing
I hated my past
Wish I had held on
But I stand now
Strong and know
I can move on with life
And let you go

My heart
locked up for now
You had the key to my heart
why'd you lose it?

Romeo and Juliet

Tybalt and Mercutio DEAD

You know the saying" All is fair in love and war" well that's basically what happens here. This tragedy takes place in Verona, the problem all started when Mercutio and Romeo went to ball at the Capulet's. Tybalt did not like the fact they were there. So it began when Tybalt wanted to confront Romeo but the problem got out of hand. Mercutio and Benvolio insult Tybalt and Tybalt insults them back. Romeo doesn't want fight Tybalt because he will become cousins with him if he marries Juliet but Tybalt doesn't know that.  Even though Romeo didn't want to fight with Tybalt, the problem progressed because tybalt ranged with anger. Romeo wasn't interested to fight Tybalt, so he tried to ignore him.

Mercutio, Romeos friend watching all this could not handle much more, so took matters into his hand. He was aggravated that Romeo was calm and sturdy. So he declared to battle tybalt, he thought this way would end to better result than talking it out. With that Mercutio took his sword to his hand and they both took a swing at each other. Romeo witnessing all this, tried to stop the fight but right at that moment, Tybalt took his sword and Mercutio life. Mercutio died, but before he died he said that because of this war, a death has occurred and it didn't do anything at all to solve the hatred between each side.
Romeo gets mad at Tybalt and starts to argue with him. But Romeo exploded with anger, and killed Tybalt. Benvolio was shocked, and so were the people of Verona. Lady Capulet arrived short after Tybalt's death and so did the prince, and he acknowledged there was faults on both sides so he didn't sentence him to death but banished him from Verona because he had killed a member from the Capulet's.

The End Of the World As We Know it

First Impressions
Depression, confusion, loneliness, and anger. All these emotions are stored in one young man's life, and his name is Carson. He doesn't seem to like the world he lives in , particularly the people in it. Carson is neglected to care what others think.
One day Carson is told to write a paper for his course and he wrote about his hatred towards the world and people in it. Carson teacher Mr. Dodd shows Mr. Cromwell who runs the private school that Carson attends because Carson got an A+ on his paper. The private school that Carson went to was not any normal private school, it was a school for kids who needed extra attention. Carson states it as " the school for messed up kids".
Carson used to be like any other teenager but things changed when he looked at the world in a hatred perspective. He now lives in a dorm with a roommate named Griffin. Griffin was sent to this school because he tried to make nuclear weapon. People who went to the school had parents who were wealthy. Mr. Cromwell made this private school of a mining place that used to be located under the school. The mining place got out of hand because the employs were dying of sickness and so Mr. Cromwell used this as an opportunity to open a school.
Carson got into fights with girls, because a girl did not want to sit beside him. He thinks that's the reason he hasn't been able to get a girlfriend.  A girl once told him to move because she didn't like the way he dressed and looked, I guess that's why he hates the world because people in the world just don't seem to show him respect and love. He was told by his teachers to talk with the girl but the conflict got bigger and the girl went away. Carson is getting help by his teachers but I sometimes wonder if he is trying to make progress to make his life the most of it?
I think this book will be interesting because I like Carson's behaviour it causes suspense. He acts like he is a rebel but then he makes me think, behind all this anger there must be a reason and I want to find out what that reason is. I like the topic of this book because it focus on something close to reality, people like Carson who are alone and hate the world. It may be depression or anger that he holds but I sometimes relate to him. I sometimes too get angry at the world, for example; when I fell on the pavement and began to bleed when doing a race, I blamed the world because I wondered why they world has pavement, why couldn't it be sponge. As silly as it may sound it was the truth.
As this story goes on I learn more about Carson and his friends and teachers They all share unique personalities and all have a goal to peruse. We will see what happens in the next chapters to come.
